Option 1: Your neighborhood elementary school

Enroll your child in Pre-K 3 or Pre-K 4 at any PSJA ISD elementary campus, with access to a full school community and resources.

Families may also choose a PSJA Building Blocks Academy, designed specifically for early learners from Pre-K 3 through 1st grade.

At a Building Blocks Academy, students benefit from:

• Specialized early childhood play-based instruction
• A smaller, age-focused learning environment
• Staff trained specifically for early learners
• A strong focus on foundational skills and development

Option 3: PSJA Early Start Pre-K School (Child Care Partnerships)

Families may also choose one of over 40 quality-rated child care providers partnered with PSJA ISD through the PSJA Early Start Pre-K School.

Who can enroll?

Children may enroll in PSJA ISD early childhood programs if they meet the age requirement by September 1st:

• Pre-K 3: child must be 3 years old on or before September 1st
• Pre-K 4: child must be 4 years old on or before September 1st
• Kindergarten: child must meet Texas age requirements for Kindergarten enrollment

What do you need to enroll your child?

For both returning and new to the district students

Parent/guardian enrolling student must present the following information upon completion of registration:

Required for enrollment:

• Parent/Guardian ID (Any official photo ID)
• Proof of Guardianship/Custody (if applicable) if a child is not living with his/her parents or if a child lives with only one parent, proof of legal guardianship or custody is required.
• Child’s original Birth Certificate
• Child’s Report Card, withdrawal form from previous school district and/or high school transcript.
   

The following can be obtained within 30 days of enrollment:

• Proof of Residence (MUST BE PRESENTED ANNUALLY)
• Current Utility Bill (water, light, or gas bill with parents name and address)
• Lease agreement/Renter’s contract
• Notarized letter of residence (if applicable) if parents/students are living with a friend or relative who is the homeowner of a residence of the District.
• District affidavit of residence.
• Child’s Immunization Record (Must be up to date)
• Child’s Social Security Card (optional)

The following day care facilities are in partnership with Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD. They provide instruction to their student body through training and guidance from PSJA Certified Teaching Staff to ensure students are ready for kinder.

No. Students are not required to be potty trained to enroll in Pre-K 3 or Pre-K 4 at PSJA ISD.

Is Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 free at PSJA ISD?

PSJA ISD offers free full-day Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 for eligible students.

What age does my child need to be for Pre-K 3 or Pre-K 4?

Children must be:

• 3 years old on or before September 1st for Pre-K 3
• 4 years old on or before September 1st for Pre-K 4

What does my child learn in Pre-K?

Students build early skills in reading, vocabulary, math, communication, routines, and social development.

Can my child attend if we live outside the district?

Yes. PSJA ISD welcomes transfer students, including families living in other parts of the Rio Grande Valley.
